Yesterday, it emerged that Burnett has signed up to play the mother of Lynch's character Sue Sylvester.

"I'm thrilled!" Lynch told E! Online. "I love her. It would just be awesome if we did a song together."

Lynch also revealed that she has been a fan of Burnett for some time, saying: "She's probably my first influence. I watched [The Carol Burnett Show] every Saturday night as a kid. My brother and I would act out some of the scenes."

Burnett's episode of Glee is expected to air in October or November.
