Kara DioGuardi Dishes on Ellen & Simon Drama

There’s been a lot of drama for American Idol fans over Ellen DeGeneres making her way in and Simon Cowell making his way out! But, as bad as it is for us it’s probably way worse for the judges! Self magazine got the scoop on what judge Kara DioGuardi had to say after the show’s premiere.

Kara answered the tough questions to Self about how she really feels about the Ellen/Simon switch.

“We’re all sad about it,” Kara said about Simon leaving the show. “He is just so great on the show. He’s been on since before I was on the show, he says things that nobody could say and in a way that is just so unique and funny. He made the show so big and he’s going to be missed.”

But, she’s happy to have Ellen!

“Ellen’s been great, she’s really a natural judge,” Kara said. “She is warm and funny and critical when she needs to be and knows when the music’s not right and something’s wrong. I’m really impressed by her.”

Sounds like Ellen will fit in just like Kara feels she has now!

“I feel more comfortable with everyone around me and myself on screen,” she shared about being a sophomore judge on the show now. “I just learned a lot from last year that I hope to apply to this year’s show.”

Kara has just as high of hopes for this season of Idol as we do!

“Great talent!” Kara said about what she hopes to see this year. “We’ve got some really good kids. And I know they say every year it’s the best talent, but you fall in love with these stories and what they’ve come through to get to where they are and I think that’s why every year it’s so compelling because it’s a whole new cast of characters.”
