Jennifer Aniston's revenge on Angelina Jolie: a very sexy photo-shoot

Celebrities have far-reaching and glamorous ways of exacting revenge on their ex-partners. They do it in the pages of glossy fashion magazines and in interviews with Vanity Fair. Next month’s W magazine features Jennifer Aniston and her co-star in her latest film The Bounty Hunter, Gerard Butler, posing as a couple on the cover and a fashion spread inside.

The photographer for the shoot is Steven Klein, who back in July 2005 also shot Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie posing as a 1960s married couple around the time his affair with Jolie became public: the story was called, “Domestic Bliss”. The piece sparked outrage in the celebrity gossip press and led to Aniston tearfully telling an interviewer that her soon-to-be ex husband was missing “a sensitivity chip.” The Pitt/Jolie shoot was to promote the 2005 film Mr & Mrs Smith (it was on the set of that film that the pair fell in love and Pitt left his wife, Aniston). Followers of the A-list love triangle saga will not fail to notice the similarity in the images – and the distinct “see where I am now?” sentiment in Aniston’s latest publicity move.

Last month’s Architectural Digest magazine also featured Aniston on the cover and pictures of her home in the Hollywood Hills which she helped design. She and Pitt often talked about their shared love of architecture and interior design. The piece reports that her house “originally had his-and-hers bath[rooms] but Jen turned ‘his’ [bath] into a spa bath with a soaking tub.” In the W shoot, Aniston models stockings and suspenders, a $1,695 Alberta Ferretti’s thinner-than-air silk chiffon dress and various pieces of Agent Provocateur underwear. As the adage says, revenge is a dish better served cold, and Aniston let hers cool for five years.
