Julia Roberts Thinks It's 'Silly' to Star in Romantic Comedies After 40

Roberts turns down 'silly' rom-coms

Julia Roberts has confessed that she believes she is too old to star in romantic comedies.

The Hollywood actress, 42, is about to play a woman who divorces her husband and travels around the world in new film Eat Pray Love.

But asked whether she'd consider a romantic comedy, the Pretty Woman star told OK! magazine: "I think I'm too old for those silly situations of unrequited love!"

She added: "It becomes less plausible when you're in your forties to be falling down in the hallway because a boy walks by!

"I've read a couple lately that are more original and more mature, but they just didn't seem like a fit for me."

Eat Pray Love is based on a memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert.

Julia, took time out from Hollywood to look after twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, five, and three-year-old Henry, before returning to the big screen.
