HollywoodNews.com: British star and Oscar winner Emma Thompson – best known to this generation as Professor Trelawney from the Harry Potter movies and as the title character in the Nanny McPhee movies, will receive her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The announcement was originally made in June 2009, and the unveiling ceremony for Thompson will be on August 6, 2010. The star will be the 2,416th in the Walk, and will be located outside of The Pig n’ Whistle British pub on Hollywood Boulevard.

Thompson has enjoyed a long and successful film career, earning two Oscar and two Golden Globe wins – one each for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Howard’s End in 1993, and for Best Writing/Screenplay for Sense and Sensibility in 1996); she’s had numerous other nominations and wins (Emmy, BAFTA, Saturn Awards, and Critic’s Choice, among others) over her 30-year career.

Thompson’s next appearance on the big screen will be in next month’s US release of Nanny McPhee Returns, which hits theaters on August 20, 2010.
